Comments from Students and Customers:Patrick has been working with my grandson for over one year, he has displayed great patience and creates a fun environment while teaching a nine year old. My grandson attends lessons approximately ever other week yet he has made great progress and remains motivated for his lessons with Pat. I would recommend lessons with Patrick to those with young children. Colleen Donnelly. Cold Spring, NY Pat Cummings is a remarkable guitar teacher. A great player, as well as a first-rate luthier and the inventor of an amazing guitar technology, his deep understanding and complete mastery of the instrument allows him to support the creative development of students ranging from beginners to performing professionals. I have had lessons from many teachers, but Pat is the one who has made the most difference in my playing. His ear training is invaluable, and his unique ability to help me focus on improving my playing by learning to listen more effectively has taken me to another level. He is also a great guy. Easy to be with, and a pleasure to play with. If you're looking for something great, look no further --you've come to the right place. David Ross. - Beacon, NYAs a teacher, Pat first makes sure he understands your musical goals. He then continually re-focuses and re-crafts lessons to ensure you're getting there. Each session with Pat has presented new compositional and improvisational possibilities, inspired me to play and create, and armed me with specific exercises, techniques, and attainable challenges to work on -- the perfect balance of concrete tasks and creative fun. Students of any style or level would be hard-pressed to find a more valuable teacher. As Luthier, Patrick is a guitar player's dream, a full-service resource. From building beautiful custom instruments, to customizing and beautifying one you already have, Pat can do it all. (He has lovingly transformed every guitar I own.)
Michael Steinberg. - Bronx, NYMy lessons with Patrick are going places I have never been with the guitar. I am learning from his advanced ear training and guitar techniques. His patience is well developed, showing me how to play a complicated Steve Howe (Yes) guitar part note by note! As lessons progressed I've been guided to appreciate, understand, and strive to gain the ability to play Masters of the guitar such as Charlie Christian and Larry Carlton, using these as a foundation and pallette for my own musical development and self expression. I am encouraged by Patrick's knowledge and experience, he is helping me achieve my musical goals. Mark Motise. - Beacon, NYGive a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. You know the rest. As a mandolin student finding a teacher who takes the time to understand his student and the students goals is hard to find. Patrick is that teacher. My musical goals in the beginning were simple, to play along with my friend. Patrick understood my eclectic goals and before I knew it I had the confidence and knowledge to to learn songs and play along with my buds. As I've developed over the years, Patrick is always available to get you to the next level. I consider myself ear trained, but If I wanted to incorporate advanced theory I know Patrick's the man. I've truly enjoyed my learning experience with Patrick and highly recommend him. By the way my mandolin plays like butter after he set it up properly.Ted Rathjen. - Garrison, NY Working with Patrick has been a true pleasure. His unique perspective and expertise on music theory allows sessions to be both stimulating and fun. Every week I learn my favorite tunes through ear training; a practice perfected by Mr. Cummings. I thank him for all he has done for me. Not only helping me build my skill and confidence with a guitar, but personally as well. I highly recommend Patrick Cummings for lessons and guitars repairs.
